Surprise party for daddy...

My dad turned the big '70' a week ago and so we decided to throw him a surprise party. As it is typical of my dad on his birthday he likes to relax with a bottle of wine and old time music and have a few close friends come around and they chat about the old times and he has some of us around come visit with gifts and we sing 'for he is a jolly good fellow' to him and shout hip! hip! hip! hurrah!!!!!!!!! to him and he takes us in turn to dance some old steps as the old man used to be a dance instructor 'when papa was a rolling stone'.
So he does his usual as his birthday was on a Tuesday .We plan the party for Saturday. I had to do a nine hours journey home in time for the party.
Its Saturday and we all are there arranging the house and the caterers cooking behind the house and messages were sent to friends and family to come celebrate the surprise. He keeps asking what is going on and no one says anything meaningful to him.
cakes, gifts, hand made cards with birthday wishes handwritten by all the children home and abroad .souvenirs were not left out then we let him into the surprise and he almost wants to cry.
He's happy, family and friends are around and there is music and singing and prayers and lots of food and drinks.
loads of pictures too...everyone is happy and it turned out to be a very fun filled family event.
I have never had anyone throw me a party more so a surprise.
it was a fun weekend and I am back again nine hours away from home and back to my grind!
